Walking through a carpet of wildflowers, under a bright blue sky, listening to the wind in the Sheoak trees, you will come across a magnificent, prehistoric rock formation. You will marvel at the size and shape, eroded by the weather over millions and millions of years. This is Wave Rock.

Climb to the top and enjoy the view of the surrounding farm land, shiny salmon gum-forests, and the beautiful salty scrubby bush. This is Australia at its finest. Take a short walk to Hippo's Yawn, offering spectacular views of the orchids and wildflowers in spring.

A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.

Three hectares of natural bushland creates a beautiful haven for the native and exotic animals and birds that live at the Wave Rock Wildlife Park. Don’t miss the white, grey or silver kangaroos and wallabies, koalas, golden possums, deers, donkeys, alpacas, camels, exotic poultry, water birds, swans, owls, betongs, wombats and many more.

Enjoy a brewed coffee and home made food at the Wildflower Shoppe Cafe. Here you will also find the entrance to the Wildlife Park, home to koalas, wombats, white kangaroos and an array of beautifully coloured birds.

Spend hours exploring the Miniature Soldier Museum and the Antique Lace Collection.

Wonder at how our forefathers survived whilst clearing the land in the early 1900’s in the Pioneer Museum. Take a 16 kilometre drive to the Humps and learn about our aboriginal history with the legend of Mulka at Mulka’s Cave. Climb through his living quarters to the top of the giant rock formation to look out towards the salt plains and patchwork paddocks.

Spend time in Hyden itself – a quaint town, nestled amongst the Salmon Gums. Here you can browse the local shops and the streetscape art in the main street, which depicts the town’s history.
